“How to Start a Freight Train in Train Sim World 2”

This video was made for an assignment to make a “How-To” film in Media Arts and Technologies 160, Introduction to Video Production at Mira Costa College in Oceanside, CA in 2021. The equipment used included a full-frame DSLR and a motorized slider to create the tracking shot.

The pacing is fast because the assignment required the video to be only 60 seconds long.

”How to Start a Freight Train in Train Sim World 2” is my most popular video on YouTube. Highball!

“Walking and Talking”

In 2021, I was cinematographer, gaffer, and sound recordist—a one-person crew—while assisting director James Ming in producing an actors’ reel for two actors performing two scenes from the film Walking and Talking (1996). I used a Canon C200 with a 24 mm f/1.4 lens on a tripod to shoot these scenes.

The frame on the upper left was shot with a tight depth of field to blur out the background.

The frame on the lower right is due to James agreeing to my suggestion to, rather than shoot a typical over-the-shoulder shot, Sandy held her face so close to the mirror that I could shoot her reflection while she turned her back to the camera.

The frame on the lower left records our happiness when we wrapped our shoot.
